Shape Ups from SKECHERS are designed to get you fit while you walk, work, shop, and more. Shape Ups have as much a place in your life as your boots, sandals, and dress casuals, and can retrain your muscles, helping you walk with a positive impact. Used properly, Shape Ups change the way you approach your daily activities. Used regularly, Shape Ups will enhance the way you feel and look; muscles get toned, calories are burned and your posture improves. Shape Ups are designed to:
Three Reasons You Need Shape Ups: 1. Stronger You 2. Healthier You 3. Easy Exercise Routine Three Reasons You Want Them: 1. In Style 2. Portable Power 3. A Brand You Trust |
The design technology behind Shape Ups changes the way you walk.
As we move through our lives, we typically walk on hard surfaces, which places stress on our knee joints and lower back. People who are required to stand for their jobs feel the impact on their bodies the most, and don’t gain the benefits that come with all that activity.
The goal with Shape Ups was to simulate walking on soft ground. SKECHERS has turned hard surfaces into comfortable ground through revolutionary technology designed into the framework of the shoe. The core of this technology is in the dynamic rolling bottom, the soft foam insert under the heel, and the dual-density midsole. These three elements work together to give you the feeling of walking on sand or luxurious pile carpet–regardless of the actual surface. Walking on softer, uneven surfaces forces you to engage muscles not normally used when walking on hard ground. Not only does this strengthen your muscles, but it also increases blood flow and reduces the impact on your joints and lower back.
Designed to improve your life by changing the way you walk, Shape Ups feature a unique soft kinetic wedge insert and dynamic rolling bottom to simulate walking barefoot on a giving surface that gives such as sand. With the comfort of Shape Ups, you will feel your heel sink to the ground as you step, roll forward as your weight shifts to its center, and push off with your toes. This movement will result in stronger leg, buttock, back and abdominal muscles as you stabilize your steps.

Get in the Routine
1. Kick Back: Stand upright and place feet parallel and hip distance apart, balance centered. Roll your weight onto the back of the soft foam heel – hold for a count of five and then back to the center. Do not lock knees or tip backward. Stretches calf and hamstrings. Repeat 5 to 10 times.
2. Rock and Roll: Stand upright and place feet parallel and hip distance apart, balance centered. Roll your weight forward so you are balancing on the underside of your toes – hold for a count of two, then slowly rock back to the soft heel – hold for a count of two, and then back to your center of balance. Do not lock knees or tip backward. Stretches calf and hamstrings, warms up Achilles and ankles. Repeat 5 to 10 times.
3. Roll and Rock and Roll: Follow the Rock and Roll stretch, but alternate feet so one is rolling to the toes and one is rocking back. Repeat 5 to 6 times.
4. The Lean: Place your hands on a wall, parallel and slightly above your head. With one leg in front of the other and your arms forward, press with your palms as if you were leaning on the wall. Keep your back leg straight and your front foot on the floor, then bend the front leg and lean forward by moving your hips toward the wall. Hold for a count of five, then repeat on the other side. Stretches calf and Achilles. Repeat 5 to 6 times.

These shoes are actually comfortable. I have a bulging disk at L3-S5 and a knee that i have had an arthroscopy on. It is much easier to walk in these shoes at a greater distance than I can in regular sneakers. Because I have a drop-foot on my right leg, the shape-ups allow my feet to roll from heel to toe with no effort. Regular sneakers do not offer this kind of support or comfort. I am all in.
I have seen some stores that have the shape-ups but only in a limited color and quantity. The sketchers web site is about $10 more per pair and you pay a hefty shipping fee of about $30.

I tried these Skecher shapeups because they looked nice, skechers are known for being very comfortable, and the price was right.
They are also supposed to help align, support your posture easing pain according to a lot of reviews. I own a pair of MBT shoes that have changed my life as I have chronic pain in my back from spinal surgery. My MBTs took my pain from a 9 to a 2 on a scale of 1-10. However they cost an arm and a leg.
So I thought that I would give the Skecher version a go.
Not a good idea. I wore them around the house for about 20 minutes and found that they actually caused great pain in my back.
Now I also understand that my body is different then other people’s bodies, which is why I gave them 2 stars. They felt very good on my feet until I walked around in them and my feet kept wanting to go inward, no support there. They are just missing that one layer of firmer rubber to stabilize them.
Hope this helps people not waste their time and energy, who are trying to save a buck and buy these shoes instead of the original MBTs.

Despite the size running a little big, costing way too much, and not exactly being asthetically pleasing, I’d give thumbs up for these shoes. I’m a server in a pretty busy restaurant, doing 8-10 hours shifts completely on my feet, so I figured why not try to get the most out of it? For the first week of wearing the shape-ups to work, I really felt it in my thighs and butt. (Also, a warning to servers/bartenders: the way these shoes work is to make you slightly unbalanced with the curved sole of the shoe so that your muscles work harder to keep you stabalized while you’re standing/walking. This makes carrying trays/several plates or drinks at one time a tad bit risky until you get used to them! I’m proud to say that I made it through without biting it in the middle of the dining room, but I had a few pretty close ones.) After the first week, I got used to the feel of walking in them, (and driving in them takes some getting used to by the way). To be completely honest, I don’t know if they really reduce cellulite and help tone, etc. I get how they’re supposed to work, but I can’t honestly tell you that I see a visable difference. What I do know, is that 1. I felt something when I first wore them so it’s definitely strengthening something. 2. They have been very effective at strengthening my ankle muscles at least. I have a problem with a weak ankle (previously broken, I do resistence training for the muscles around it) that I feel has gotten stronger since I started wearing the shoes (Noticable to me because I feel more stable doing one legged standing yoga poses) and 3. They’re pretty comfortable. I do not recommend them at all to those of you that have flat feet—these will probably hurt like hell for you. But, for someone with average arches, I got through 10 hour days waitressing and my feet felt pretty good. I know know if they feel over-a-hundred-dollars-good, but they felt good.
PS- If you happen to wear black uniform pants like I do, just get ones that are about and inch too long. Completely disguises the fact that you are wearing shape-ups.

I bought a pair of Skechers and I love them. I have worn orthodics for years and I wear nothing inside these shoes. They do change your balance a little but once you get used to them they feel great. I never had any kind of muscle soreness from wearing them. I wear them whenever I can. I have a black pair and a white pair so that I can wear them as much as possible. I have a soreness on my left foot on the bottom and I have seen two doctors and they did nothing that helped. These shoes are so comfortable I hardly notice it anymore. I highly recommend these shoes!

After I had my son I was really limited on activities I could do. I started to walk him everyday around noon for about an hour I was happy to be out and mobile but it didn’t feel like a work out until I got the sneakers. I immediatly would feel the burn on my legs and butt and it, combination with my c section wrap it was a great combo to get me back in shape quick. I never walked a full hour again I only walked 1/2 hour a day and it was enough of a burn
I just recently brought the black ones for work.I work in retail as a support manager so my dress code in all back and fairly casual but I’m lapping our building 100′s of times a day so I feel like Im getting a bit of work out in since with a newborn and my job getting to my gym is really low on the list of things to do but my the end of my work day my butt and legs are sore.
The one thing is they aren’t the cutest sneakers ever I think the rebok ones are a bit cuter but I dont wear them for cute I wear them for definition so I guess it really doesn’t matter and I don’t know how the rebok ones are, my friend got them and she says she can’t feel any differernce. My mom got the avon ones because they were cheaper than these but I don’t think she gets it…she thought she was gonna loose weight from them but that’s not what they do they just firm from my experience but thats what I wanted..no more jiggle.
BTW they do nothing for my back and i have 3 lumbar herniations, so my back is always bad. Always!!
