Well, you guys at Amazon have kept “bugging me” for a review of my purchases in December, 2009, which I haven’t written because I knew I’d just get upset with the implications of the stupidity involved with the caps I purchased for my kid. Normally I’m not one to complain about anything I purchase since life is about “choices” and you make some bad ones and some good ones, but this one involves my son and since you say you’re genuinely “interested” in my customer satisfaction, here goes…
I’m completely disgusted with the caps and somewhat disgusted with the cap guns I purchased for my son’s cap guns from Amazon for Christmas, 2009. The caps offered up no “bang”, “pop” or anything even remotely resembling either, only a lame fizzle in both cap guns. I also tested and wasted many of the caps in both guns to insure it wasn’t just a few faulty caps.(Certainly nothing like the cap guns and caps I had as a boy…) The holsters for the guns were very “lame” as well, poorly constructed and designed. Obviously whoever made the guns and caps didn’t care very much about design and quality! And what’s with the ugly orange tip on the end of the cap pistols? Talk about ruining any sense of make-believe!? I can only assume there must be some paranoid, ill-thought-out laws in effect, based on some prejudiced, flawed studies from our “Nanny-state” government, dictating to us again why and how we are not allowed to partake in anything that could be construed by the government “Thought Police” as violent childhood behavior. Probably liberal government shrinks and meddling busybody “do-gooders” who have to justify their government jobs somehow, deciding for the rest of the country that innocent childhood pretend games such as “cops and robbers” or “cowboys and indians” is racist, or teaches bigoted behavior later in life which would be threatening to society and be a stepping stone to future criminal behavior…ad infinitum… Lord how I hate the last 20 years of the 20th century and 2001…and the death of common sense!!! My “A-student” son is disappointed and smart enough(more so than the adults that made and marketed these caps and guns to the unsuspecting public) to realize what junk they are after the initial letdown of Christmas morning (coupled with my sense of betrayal and embarrassment) and has no desire to use the caps or guns. So now I’m stuck with a bunch of useless “ring” caps that “fizzle” instead of explode and two orange tipped (duh…)cap guns with no working caps.
I’d return the caps if I thought I could do it without any hassle but I suppose I’d have nothing but “red-tape” if I tried, have to justify it with a ton of paperwork, end up paying a fortune in return shipping charges and incur a bad case of “identity theft”…
Are there any other parents out there that feel as I do, or is everyone too apathetic or “beaten” to give a damn?
Signed…
“Older Parent”
P.S. Gentlemen or ladies… Truth, and sincerity is not always pretty and pleasant. So…how can you allow this junk to be sold on Amazon???

Just received the caps today, and used them in two cowboy pistols we purchased from Cabelas. Like the first reviewer, I thought they were faulty, they offered the slightest pop, not much louder than the cap gun itself. Extremely disappointing. Not like the caps we used in the 70s-80s, which actually made a noise and a fair amount of smoke. These were a “dud”, and though I suppose for safety reasons they scaled them back, but really, what’s the point? Save your money.

These caps are so quiet that they barely make any more noise than the sound of the cap gun itself. I wasn’t even sure they were firing except for the faint puff of smoke when you pull the trigger. I’ve had better luck buying the super cheap 8 shot cap rings from the drug store and cutting the ring so that I can fit them into my son’s 12 shot cap gun. These are worthless. (BTW, these are the second round of these typs of caps I’ve bought by this manufacturer from different sellers. Neither were any good.)

I bought the cap pistol and caps as a gift for my boss who has decided to go into private practice. He loves it and uses it all the time!
